Everybody can afford and make a cloth mask. A sewing machine helps get it done in 5 to 10 minutes. Sewing by hand is, however, more time consuming.
A good fabric is the most important thing when making a cloth mask. A strong cotton fabric, such as a pillow case or a kitchen towel, will make the best homemade mask. The mask must be sewn from a multi-layered fabric that can be washed at 60°C.
Necessary items for mask sewing:
- cloth
- scissors
- rubber band or regular string
- pins
- needle and thread
A sewing machine facilitates the process considerably, but it’s also possible to sew a mask by hand.
