A self-made cloth mask can be used many times if maintained properly.
1) Wash it
Wash the mask at 60 to 90°C after every use. If you cannot use a washing machine, wash it manually using hot water and soap.
2) Dry it
Let the mask dry properly.
3) Iron it
When dry, iron the mask at maximum temperature.
Keep the washed and ironed mask away from the items that you have recently used outside of your home. Ensure that the washed and ironed mask remains clean until the next use.
If by any reason you want to throw the mask away immediately after use, put it in a plastic bag, seal it securely, and throw it in mixed household waste. If you want to get rid of the mask after the end of the emergency situation, i.e. when the danger of infection has passed, throw it in textile waste.
